Managing Systems for Mobile Robots Based on Computer Vision

The state of the art in the field of computers and information technologies allows accomplishing the most difficult and desperate tasks. One of such tasks is the construction of mobile robots.

The subject of our research is management systems for mobile robots and methods of image processing for these systems. The purpose of the research is to develop methodology of construction of generic management systems to control mobile robots’ movement that use methods and algorithms of image processing as well as to model and research the developed algorithms.

We have carried out the analysis of the object domain and it has shown that in order to develop a generic management systems to control mobile robots’ movement based on the methodology of image processing we need to solve the following tasks:

  1. To develop a generalized model of generic management system
  2. To develop a generalized model of image in field of vision which is of a real value
  3. To develop a methodology of image processing for the purpose of scene analysis and generation of information for knowledge systems
  4. To develop the methodology of knowledge generation and  the strategy of management system’s self-training on basis of image analysis in order to use the knowledge while making decisions and analyzing situation
  5. To develop a method of situation analysis and decision-making on basis of image analysis and accumulated knowledge
  6. To develop an algorithm of knowledge storage and search in data base
  7. To develop an algorithm of motion path tracing of control object on basis of image analysis
  8. To develop a methodology of management systems’ integration that use methods of image processing and knowledge obtained as a result of image analysis
  9. To carry out experimental research of developed methods and algorithms with the use of computer and full-scale model

To construct the models of our robots we use Lego Mindstorm. It allows us to test the results of our development in practice making a short cut.
